This reminds me of the time my 8-year old daughter outted me in front of a panhandler (whom I had just turned down) by shouting, "YOU LIED! YOU HAVE LOTS OF CHANGE!" I ultimately emptied my change purse. Sheesh. Cant a mother "protect her change?"
Washington, D.C., gets a particularly aggressive brand of panhandler if you engage them in any way. So I remember the first time we took the kids, coaching them on the metro about the proper bum-citizen rules of engagement. Contrast that with taking them in with a church group to feed the homeless...
