I give you the long-awaited:

The Beans of Northern Aggression.

...with a proper New England brown bread (I usually make cornbread with beans, but this seems more appropriate) and also applesauce. We're just your basic, (ahem) regular family .

Getting closer, but I still need something to round out the sweetness. But the next attempt has to be made toward Dirtman's version, which we have dubbed:

The Beans Shall Rise Again*

...but I think we'll wait awhile...

*These names are just so perfect in so many ways!

Also: did you make the applesace from scratch?

The scratch applesauce never makes it past the holidays, even though I increase how much I make every year. So, no -- but it was local applesauce -- sort of.

That pot. That blue pot.

It belongs over at John-boys!

...oh... and....
I was actually over in Kohls (the day of the great food poisoning) looking for a bean pot with which to join the foray for the perfect recipe. Of course, mine shall be called something akin to Beans Of The Bubblin' Cruel.

What about some anchovy fillets (the ones in Oil) to round out the sweetness? Jacky

dg: The bean pot stays with me. And has the Bubblin' Cruel manifested itself yet?

jacket: Don't know how that would work over a period of two days. (whispering)No one is aware around here about how much anchovy fillets I use in cooking because they can't taste it when I use it, yet it is truly a powerful amalgamator.

Aside of last Monday, no Beans Of The Bubblin' Cruel. You see, I have no pot. I do not have a pot to bean in! (You KNEW it was coming.) I will probably start messing w. something tomorrow eve or over weekend some time. I usually pick something new to work on if time permits. I'll keep you filled in. AND... if it rates... I'll blog them too!
