Ocracoke, Week II

As we enter the second week of our Ocracoke Island vacation, there begins to be dissention in the ranks.

The Heirs and their friend LT are bored, in spite of an invitation to a pirate party in the woods where Blackbeard hid out. However it did trigger a spate of pirate talk for awhile, which was funny -- for about 30 seconds.

Topper has had the runs, in spite of giving him bottled water. (Go ahead and click. We’ll spare you the graphics.)

The rest of us, Dirtman, John Boy, Zsa Zsa and I, are taking advantage of local offerings. Especially Zsa Zsa, who has charmed some local fishermen into giving her all their fish heads.

Dirtman and John Boy are going into the clamming business because now they have a bucket…

And a clam.

The rake is a rental.

We are beginning to doubt Dirtman’s commitment to this venture.

Yesterday we took a tiny little boat to Portsmouth Island. On the way we passed this little island full of pelicans. Lots and lots of pelicans.

On Portsmouth Island the rain had apparently brought out the fiddler crabs, which were cute - for about 30 seconds. Then they were just in the way of walking…

…to the beach.

John Boy and Heir 1 took a kayak tour and learned the difference between this and this.

Heir 1 ended up running into their guide at the pirate party, which calls his information into question, but his ability to talk pirate is beyond reproach. Or so I’ve heard.

Oh my stars, how I love the NC coast.

Poor Topper Get Down!*

(I originally accidentally typed "Poo" Topper Get Down. Much more appropriate really.)

Glad you are having fun. Sort of.
The pictures are great.
I wonder if squatters have moved into your house yet. Just wondering. I haven't heard anything about whether they have or not..

Hey Sissigy, where do you keep the mustard? Happy & Blue 2 likes it on his burgers. Hot tub is great, by the way...at first Jag didn't want to use it, but after everybody left the big party we threw (sorry about the tv!), she needed to relax and Rudy was in your soaking tub....
Hope you're having a great time!

You know, of course, we are the condiment family. By our second day in the house we already had five different types of mustard, if that will suit HB2.

Water the plants, WT, and reload the Skybox. I'll be home Sunday.

Figures Jag wouldn't go in the hot tub, seeing as most pirates don't like to get wet, pirate ninjas in particular.

And Rudy can soak in my tub any time he wants. (Is he coming out red? We have iron in the water and the purifier guy couldn't come out until August.)

Trasherati and Happy: So ... we're gonna tell Sisiggy about what happened to the brand new garden gnome when she gets back then? Or maybe we should just leave her a note? I'm just thinking that perhaps it would be best for us to NOT be there when she finds out....

Sounds like a typical family vacation. Reminds me a tad of the Calvin & Hobbes family camping trips! Hehehee!

And now, for Zsa Zsa:

"Fish heads! Fish heads!
Roly-poly Fish heads!
Fish Heads! Fish heads!
Eat them up, yum!"

~ with thanks to Dr. Demento!

Yeah! Someone else who knows Dr. Demento!
